NIK 2018 – Call for Papers

Norwegian Informatics Conference

The first Norwegian Informatics Conference (NIK) was organized in 1988. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, University of Oslo has the pleasure of organizing NIK 2018 from 18-20. September 2018 in Svalbard, as part of the Norwegian Conference for ICT Research and Education (NIKT).

NIK is a broad national conference aimed at being an important national venue for discussions, networking, and dissemination of research and advanced development work in informatics and computer science. Topics of interests cover all areas of informatics, theoretical and applied computer science. NIK accommodates interdisciplinary work and diversity in scientific approaches and application areas.

Submitted papers can be in the form of long papers (up to 12 pages) reporting on ongoing or completed research work, or short papers (up to 4 pages) for presentation of preliminary research results. Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and accepted papers will be published in proceedings of the Norwegian Informatics Conference via the BibSys Open Journal System. The proceedings have its own ISSN number and is approved as a scientific publication channel at level 1.

Accepted papers must be presented at the conference. The paper and presentation can be in Norwegian, in another Scandinavian language, or in English. NIK also encourages the submission of papers based on bachelor and master theses, and a number of grants covering the registration fee will be available to submitted student papers. To apply for such a grant, send a short application to ingridcy@ifi.uio.no no later than 8. June.

Posters and demonstrations

Newly established projects, research in progress, and completed work which is of interest to the conference participants but does not fit as a research paper, can be presented as a poster with or without a demo of ICT. The posters will be shown in the conference break areas and the authors will present them there during the breaks. A poster should mainly consist of illustrations. The poster must be brought to the conference in printed version and have portrait orientation of size A1. Submission deadline for posters, max 2 pages, is 28 May 2018. Posters will be assessed by the program committee, but will NOT be given peer reviews, hence posters will not give publication points.
